How did the Dragon Boat Festival come about?  

端午節(jié)是怎么來(lái)的呢？

The origin of the Dragon Boat Festival is often associated with the death of a  Chinese poet called Qu Yuan.

端午節(jié)的起源常常會(huì)跟中國(guó)古代詩(shī)人屈原的死聯(lián)系在一起。

端午節(jié)為每年農(nóng)歷五月初五，又稱端陽(yáng)節(jié)、午日節(jié)、五月節(jié)、五日節(jié)、艾節(jié)、端五、重午、午日、夏節(jié)，本來(lái)是夏季的一個(gè)驅(qū)除瘟疫的節(jié)日。

Story of Qu Yuan

inese history, Qu Yuan was a poet and a top advisor during the Warring  States period for the State of Chu. （在中國(guó)歷史上，屈原是戰(zhàn)國(guó)時(shí)期楚國(guó)的一位詩(shī)人和政治家） 

He was accused of treason and was exiled by the king of Chu. 

(他被控告有叛國(guó)罪，被楚王流放）

After being exiled, Qu Yuan expressed his love and passion for his  country by writing many poems. 

（被流放之后，屈原通過(guò)些很多詩(shī)歌來(lái)表達(dá)自己對(duì)國(guó)家的熱愛）

 On the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, Qu Yuan drowned himself  because he couldn’t bear to see his country being conquered by the  state of Qin. 

（在農(nóng)歷五月的第五天，屈原投河自盡，因?yàn)樗麩o(wú)法忍受看到自己的國(guó)家 被秦國(guó)征服）

When the local villagers heard this news they were distraught, so  they set out in their fishing boats to look for Qu Yuan’s body, but they  couldn’t find it.  

（當(dāng)?shù)氐拇迕衤犝f(shuō)此事以后非常的悲痛，所以他們坐上漁船去找屈原的尸體，但是沒有找到） 

So instead, they threw lumps of rice into the river so that the fish or  any hungry beasts would eat that rice instead of eating Qu Yuan’s  body. 

（所以他們選擇往河里扔一些飯團(tuán)，這樣和魚和其他一些動(dòng)物就不會(huì)去吃屈原的尸體了）

And to remember Qu Yuan, people started to race boats and eat rice  dumplings on this day. 

（那么為了紀(jì)念屈原，人們開始在每年的這也一天賽船和吃粽子）

古語(yǔ)有云：”未吃端午粽，寒衣不可送；吃了端午粽，還要凍三凍“

2、包粽子

端午食粽，是中華民族自古以來(lái)的傳統(tǒng)習(xí)俗。由于各地飲食習(xí)慣的不同，粽形成了南北風(fēng)味

3、戴五彩繩

民間把五彩繩看成“五彩龍”，端午節(jié)拴五彩繩有保護(hù)兒童驅(qū)妖避邪之意。隨水沖走的五色繩就會(huì)變成小龍，帶走你身上的不好的東西。
